Building a Scalable Identity for a Growing Event Series

Assignar approached us to elevate Build Better, their city-based event series designed to bring customers and prospects together for education, connection, and product engagement. As the series evolved into a precursor for a larger flagship conference, the brand needed to grow with it—shifting from a simple event identity into something more refined, scalable, and recognizable. The challenge was to create a system that could flex across cities while maintaining a cohesive presence. Each event needed to feel locally relevant—rooted in its city—while still contributing to a broader, unified brand experience. Starting with Perth and Melbourne, the goal was to design a visual identity that felt conference-caliber, without losing the energy and accessibility that made Build Better successful in the first place.

The Brand System: A System Designed to Scale

At the core of the solution was a modular identity system built for repeatability and flexibility. Rather than designing one-off event assets, we created a visual framework that could be easily adapted for any city, year after year. The system balances structure with variation. A consistent “Build Better” mark anchors the identity, while city-specific elements—photography, color accents, and graphic treatments—bring each location to life. The result is a brand that feels both unified and dynamic, capable of scaling across dozens of cities without losing its integrity. Importantly, the relationship to Assignar was carefully considered. Build Better stands confidently on its own, with Assignar positioned as the presenter—ensuring brand alignment without overpowering the event identity.

The Components: A Flexible Kit of Parts

The identity was built as a comprehensive kit of parts designed for real-world application across teams and channels. A custom “B” container mark became the foundation of the system—both a logo and a graphic device. This element was used to frame city-specific photography, creating a recognizable visual anchor while allowing each location to shine. Supporting elements, including typography, color usage, and graphic accents, were designed to be intuitive and easy to apply, ensuring consistency even when used by non-designers. Every component was intentionally created to be plug-and-play—making it simple for Assignar’s team to produce future event assets efficiently without sacrificing quality or cohesion.

Designed for Every Touchpoint

The identity system was built to extend seamlessly across every marketing touchpoint—from landing pages to on-site signage—ensuring a cohesive experience from first impression to event day. The event landing pages translated the energy of the in-person experience into a digital environment. Clean layouts, bold typography, and strategic use of color guided users through key information while maintaining a strong visual presence. Beyond the website, the system carried across email invitations, social campaigns, and physical event materials. Photography and graphic elements were designed to work together—layered, masked, and integrated—creating a modern, unified aesthetic across formats. Whether experienced online or in person, every asset reinforced the same elevated, approachable identity—bringing consistency, clarity, and energy to the entire Build Better experience.

The Outcome: From Event Series to Flagship Experience

The refreshed Build Better identity successfully repositioned the series as a more premium, conference-caliber experience—while preserving its approachable and engaging nature. By establishing a scalable system, Assignar now has a foundation to expand the series across new cities and into future years with ease. Each event can be launched efficiently, without reinventing the brand, while still feeling tailored and relevant to its audience. Most importantly, the work helped transform Build Better from a set of individual events into a recognizable, flagship experience—one that strengthens Assignar’s brand and deepens its connection with customers at every touchpoint.
